When:
Third Thursday of each even month - 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Where: Genealogy Center at Kitsap
Regional Library 1301
Sylvan Way, Bremerton, WA
MEETING DATES:
We plan to meet on alternating months on the Third Thursday of
February, April, June, August, October, and December.
PURPOSE:
This group is for anyone who is interested in learning how to do research in England, Wales, Scotland or Ireland. The
SIG’s are special interest study groups for all levels of experience. The format includes a combination of group activity
and individual research. The subjects covered in each session depend upon the research questions from the participants. If
you are just beginning to research your family in any of these countries come and learn how to get started. If you are already
researching your family in these countries please come and share your successes and what you have learned.
GOALS: We will explore “the three C’s – Church records, Civic or Court Records and Census.” Each session
will open with an information segment based on how to find these records followed by individual research. We will also be
able to use the resources in the library to supplement our research. We will have access to the KRL online subscription databases
as well as many free sites that are available for family research. There will be handouts for each session with helpful tips
and links to databases and websites.
SCHEDULE:
The SIG's will end just before the library opens at 1:00 p.m. but if anyone wants to stay longer to do research they
would need to make plans to have lunch somewhere in the area.
NOTE: WE
CANNOT BRING FOOD INTO THE LIBRARY BUT A BOTTLE OF WATER WITH A LID IS O.K. THERE ARE SEVERAL LOCATIONS NEARBY IF YOU WANT
TO EAT LUNCH AND RETURN TO DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AFTER THE LIBRARY OPENS AT 1:00.
