Directions: Before you come to the Seabeck Elementary School on Seabeck-Holly
Road NW heading north, turn onto a one-way dirt road on the right side that leads to a metal gate across the dirt road on
the left. Walking around this gate you will be on an overgrown
dirt road that leads to this old historic cemetery.
This
cemetery was last transcribed on August 1, 2009 by the Puget Sound Genealogical Society. There are more than 170 people buried at this cemetery however the exact number is unknown.
The size of the cemetery is approximately one acre according to a survey drawing of the community around 1883.
A Trustees Deed and Bill of Sale from the J.M. Colman Company to the Walter L. Wycoff Company,
dated December 16, 1950 shows the land to be five acres for the cemetery.
At one time this cemetery was well maintained with paths, benches
and concrete boarders around some family plots. The salal brush has taken over several of the stones but Fred Just, a descendant
of Andrew Just, has worked at maintaining the cemetery in recent years.
There were several head stones carved on cedar slabs, some indicated
reason for death. These slabs were collected by the University of Washington some years ago where they still remain to this
date. They are preserved in the historical department. The first burial was of Walter J. Williams in 1860 and the last burial
was of Andrew Just in 1993.
