The Puget Sound Genealogical Society, located in Kitsap County, Washington, provides research, educational, and genealogical information through instruction and 3600+ publications in our genealogical collection.  Whether searching for information in cemeteries or obituaries or looking for families in other databases, books, microfilm or CDs, we are here to help you.  Classes at every level of genealogy research provide opportunities to explore Vital Records, Court Records, Church Records and also help to develop a Timeline for their ancestors along with the events of history.  PSGS monthly meetings feature interesting and informative speakers on topics related to genealogy.

Need Help?

The Society established and maintained the Cindy Shawley Spore Memorial Genealogical Research Library in Port Orchard until January 2, 2012. At that time, the collection of research materials were relocated to the Genealogy Center, located inside the Sylvan Way Branch of the Kitsap Regional Library. The telephone number of the Genealogy Center, which is also the contact number for PSGS, is 360-475-9172. PSGS Volunteers are available to assist researchers in the Genealogy Center during regular library hours. If you have a family research question, please contact the Genealogy Center for assistance. Working on the Obituary Project

Historical Records Preservation Projects
PSGS has undertaken projects to research, catalog, and make available information on historical records of Kitsap County.  These currently include Cemetery Records, Obituaries, and School Records.  For more information see the links below.

The society meets monthly at 1:00 p.m. at the Sylvan Way Branch of the Kitsap Regional Library, 1301 Sylvan Way, Bremerton.  Visitors are always welcome.  Click on the following link for details.

Membership Information
PSGS welcomes new members. Most of our members live in Kitsap or Mason counties, which are located near the Olympic Peninsula on the west side of Puget Sound. Member benefits include classes, workshops, and a quarterly publication, The Backtracker . Membership renewals begin in January of each year.

Tax Exempt Status
The PSGS is chartered in the State of Washington as a non-profit corporation.  Additionally, PSGS has been approved by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) "Tax Exempt" organization.  Gifts and donations to PSGS may be deducted on your Federal Income Tax return in accordance with IRS rules.
